Ellen

Ellen is one of the horses in the HeartWorks herd, and the warm heart among them. Gentle, intuitive and deeply comforting, she has a way of coming close without asking you to be anything other than what you are. Ellen has known safety and love throughout her life, and she seems to carry that feeling with her wherever she goes. Her paintings hold that same warmth, softness and grounded sense of being cared for.

Ellen is a horse in the HeartWorks herd, and Held is one of the paintings she created.

Ellen has known what it feels like to be safe and loved for her whole life. It’s part of who she is. She carries that same feeling into the way she meets people, warm, close, and completely unbothered by whatever you’re feeling.

For Ellen, Held feels like this:

The warmth of the herd nearby. Solid ground under her hooves. Sun breaking through after rain and warming her coat. It’s like stepping in close, pressing her muzzle right into your chest and staying there.

In Ellen’s words:
“Come here. Muzzle to your heart. I’ve got you.”

There are days when that’s about all you want from anything. No big answer or cheering up. Just someone warm beside you while you let the day fall away.That’s why Held became a blanket.

We’ve taken Ellen’s original painting and put it on the coziest thing we could think of, turning something she painted about closeness and safety into something you can actually pull around your shoulders, curl up under, or give to someone when words aren’t really the point.

The art: Held was physically painted by Ellen through the HeartWorks animal-created painting process. The marks, movement and colour are hers. This isn’t horse-inspired artwork. A horse painted it.

The blanket: Soft sherpa backing, generous warmth, and Ellen’s original Held painting across the surface.
