Phoenix came to us not as herself. She had been through racing. Through years in the tourist industry. Through the kind of life that asks everything of a body and gives very little back. By the time Tricia was able to intervene, she was suffering from malnutrition and the light had gone out of her eyes.
She didn't come straight to the herd. First she travelled to Florida, to Bill and Claudia's farm, where they put her in their field and did something simple. They gave her good grass. Fresh water. And love. They just said hello. Every day, they were with her.
And slowly, it opened her heart.
Her true self came back. Her heart, which had been locked down, opened again. When she finally arrived at our farm and started painting, she was a completely different horse.
She is the alpha of the herd now. Not through force. Just through the way she shows up. Steady, present, completely herself. She has a way of making everything around her feel a little more settled.

These are the colours Phoenix returns to most. Her palette is a living thing and shifts with each session. These are simply where she begins.
Midnight Blue holds you in the deep quiet. Royal Blue brings the steady breath back. Sky Blue is the space between moments, open and clear. Golden Sun is Phoenix's name for this one — not metallic, not borrowed. Pure solar warmth, life-force rising from the inside. Bright Yellow is gentle joy, the kind that arrives when you finally exhale. And Warm Gold possibility settling into something real.
